Two ways to cover your shipments

Which one suits you depends on how often you ship. Limits, exclusions and conditions depend on the insurer’s policy wording.

Annual cover

One policy for all your trips over the year, up to an agreed limit per load. Suits businesses that move goods regularly.

Single-trip cover

Cover for one specific consignment. Suits occasional or one-off shipments.

Packing and loading

How goods must be packed and secured for cover to apply.

Unattended vehicles

Conditions for overnight stops and parking.

Routes and territory

Within Kenya, or across borders into the region.

If goods are lost or damaged

Photograph the damage, keep the delivery notes and invoices, give the carrier written notice, and tell us straight away so we can notify the insurer.

Goods-in-transit questions

Isn’t my transporter already insured?

A transporter’s own cover may be limited or may not protect you as the owner of the goods. We help you check what their policy covers and where the gaps are.

Does it cover goods sent outside Kenya?

Some policies can extend to cross-border routes in the region. Tell us your routes and we will check.

What about goods imported by sea or air?

Imports by sea or air are usually covered by marine cargo insurance rather than goods-in-transit. We can help arrange it.

How is the value of the goods worked out?

It is set out in the policy, often based on invoice or replacement value. Make sure the limit per load covers your most valuable shipment.
